CONSTRUCTION INSPECTORS & TECHNICIANS

Position requires an experienced earthwork technician responsible for the observation and testing of earthwork construction and asphalt installation. Candidate should be well versed in related disciplines of field and laboratory analysis and testing of soil including use of nuclear gauge and sand cone equipment, performance of basic laboratory tests including compaction curves (Caltrans and ASTM D 1557), plasticity index, grain size, etc. Experience with lime and cement treated soil and aggregate base a plus. A successful candidate must be able to properly follow directions, perform in a responsible manner with minimal oversight and foster professional relationships with customers, contractors and fellow employees.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Certifications by Caltrans, NICET, ICC
  • The ability to prepare well-written and concise reports capturing all necessary elements
  • Experience with commercial, education, infrastructure, civic, healthcare and/or parking structures located in the State of California for projects ranging in value from $1 million to $500 million

This position requires an entry or senior level Special Inspector with current certifications by the International Code Council, American Welding Society, and American Concrete Institute. This position will perform as an entry to lead inspector on various projects responsible for the inspection and documentation of construction in the areas of building code compliance, concrete, pre-stress concrete, shotcrete, masonry, steel, fireproofing, waterproofing, and roofing. This position requires an entry level to experienced individual to work in a commercial testing laboratory environment. At least two years of similar experience is preferred but willing to train an entry level candidate. This position requires an experienced structural steel inspector and non-destructive testing technician. This position will perform as an entry to lead inspector on various projects responsible for the inspection and documentation of construction in the areas of structural steel, high strength bolting, coatings inspection, and non-destructive testing of weldments using VT/UT/MT processes.   • At least five years of experience as a structural steel inspector and non-destructive testing technician

ENGINEERING

Duties include preparing geotechnical recommendations related to building foundations, pavement designs, bridges, landfills, soil liners, retention ponds, communication towers and other elements requiring the involvement of a geotechnical engineer. Responsible for establishment of initial site reconnaissance plan, subconsultant coordination and management, field explorations and sampling, data evaluation, laboratory soil characteristic and strength testing program, regulatory research, and preparation of final geotechnical reports. Candidate should have experience with deep foundation systems including drilled pier, caissons, auger cast piles, pipe piles, prestressed concrete piles, etc. Must have good technical report writing skills, the ability to manage multiple project assignments, and be responsible for project profitability.
The successful candidate must have construction estimating experience, change order management experience, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast paced office environment. Prior project experience should include public works, commercial, transportation, high-rise, hospitals and schools with project values ranging from $1 million to $1 billion. Northern California site experience preferred.

Candidate Requirements:

  • California-licensed Geotechnical Engineer
  • Master of Science degree in soil mechanics engineering or a closely related field is desired but a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering will be considered
  • Minimum 10 years of related geotechnical experience
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Computer experience including CAD, gINT, Geosystems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Experience with budget management, change orders and contract administration procedures
  • Ability to prepare and present at proposal presentation, project start up and management meetings
