The project involves the renovation and remodel of Phelan Hall, an existing 8-story Dorm and Conference Center Building of approximately 127,500 sq. ft., which was originally constructed in 1953. The scope of the project involves a seismic retrofit, core bathroom and core area remodel for student lounges and prefect apartments, dorm room renovations, remodel of spaces into dorms and apartments, an addition of a new Café, an addition of a new exterior elevated terrace, a new student residence entry with new reception area, and remodel of Conference Center lobby area and public restrooms.
MatriScope provided testing and inspection services in relation to reinforcing steel placement, anchor bolts and epoxy dowels, concrete placement, shotcrete placement, shop and field welding of structural steel, sampling and testing of high-strength non-shrink grout, fiber wrap field observation and sampling, laboratory and field support testing, steel coupon chemical analysis for welding to existing steel columns, and pachometer and GPR locating services at slab and well penetrations.
